Kim Holman graduated from Huntingdon College (Montgomery, AL) Magna Cum Laude in May 2018 with a B.A. in mathematics and from Auburn University in May 2022 with an M.S. in mathematics. Originally from Tuscaloosa, AL, she graduated from the Episcopal High School (Alexandria, VA) in 2001. She worked in the environmental engineering sector before returning to school to finish her math degree. When she returned to college in 2016, she felt in the depths of her soul that she needed to be a math teacher, or as Frederick Buechner would say, teaching is “where the world’s needs and [her] deep gladness meet.”

She has experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, outreach, and instructional design. Kim is an ally, and an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2021 she published an essay, Intentional Advocacy and Establishing a New Norm, in the book Practices and Policies: Advocating for Students of Color in Mathematics, edited by Pamela Harris and Aris Winger. She summarizes her teaching philosophy in five words: Do no harm. Give grace.

Kim has held numerous leadership positions with professional organizations, in her church, and in her community. Her hobbies include painting and quilting; her favorite, though, is roller derby, where she skated under the name and jersey number Moon Pi #3.14.

Kim is married with three children, a dog, and five cats. Three of the cats belong to her children, the other two to her: Ada Love and Pascal.
